Museum of Natural History after hours…

I love love love this slideshow on NYTimes’ Photography Blog, Lens. German photographer Klaus Pichler had the fabulous idea of photographing the Museum of Natural History in Vienna after hours.

Pretty cute shark, but after watching American Horror Story I wouldn’t want to be here after dark.

Thanks to endorsements from my favorite podcast, Pop Culture Happy Hour, I have found one the most hilarious new Tumblrs…That is, if you’re of the literary persuasion.

Yelping with Cormac

This Tumblr features fictional Yelp reviews of various businesses written by EDW Lynch in the voice of the somber and excellent Cormac McCarthy…Book snobs and literary nerds, ENJOY.

Is it sad that a new lunchbox is on my Christmas Wish List? How amazing are these though?!? As someone who takes lunch to the office everyday, this would be amazing…no more piles of tupperware to wash!

Goodbyn, a small American company who wants to “reinvent the way kids eat lunch.”

Does that apply to almost-27 year old women?

Favorites: Kirtsy…

November 15, 2011 § Leave a Comment

I want to share one of my favorite places on the internet.  Founded by Gabrielle Blair of Design Mom, Laura Mayes of Blog con Queso, and Laurie Smithwick of Upside Up, Kirtsy takes a unique approach to sharing pretty pictures on the internet.

Each day there is a new slideshow “curated” by a different individual. They are beautiful and inspiring and perfect with your morning coffee.

Some collections that have recently caught my eye:

Edgar Allan Poe, Curated by Laura Sweet of If It’s Hip, It’s Here

A Haunted Dollhouse, Curated by Jenny Lawson of The Bloggess

Rain, Curated by Laura Mayes of Blog con Queso

Hop over to Kirtsy…be sure to allow an extra bit of time…you can get lost real quick. Enjoy.

No Dish Thanksgiving–Megabites Louisville

November 14, 2011 § 4 Comments

This will be my first Thanksgiving with family in years…I’m so excited! That week is also my birthday and three year wedding anniversary, so it is bound to be a happy time.

For the past three years, Andrew and I have celebrated all three of these occasions by going out to a swanky dinner. We have enjoyed delicious Thanksgiving/Birthday/Anniversary meals at Tango, Redwood, and Shoreline Grill.

This year we’ll be with family for Thanksgiving, but we still want to go out for for birthday/anniversary. We have our eyes on 610 Magnolia – chef Edward Lee is a contestant on the new season of Top Chef!

Megan Malone of Megabites Louisville has a great post on eating out for Thanksgiving–she inspired to write this! I’m a big fan of food/restaurant blogs and this is one of my local favorites. Going out for Thanksgiving dinner is fabulous!

Any suggestions on where to eat a special meal in Louisville?

Cherry Bomb – Louisville

November 11, 2011 § 4 Comments

I promise this is not a blog in which I take endless photos of clothes and insist you look at “what I am wearing today.” BUT…

I have been going to Cherry Bomb in Louisville since high school. It is one of the few stores in Louisville to carry American Apparel, which works perfectly because then you don’t have to actually go to an American Apparel store–let’s face it, that is one obnoxious place.

While I assumed the general cost of living in Louisville would be very low compared to Asheville, Stavanger, Edinburgh, and Austin, I did not anticipate its boutiques and vintage shops to follow suit. However, I am quickly realizing that in Louisville, one can be fashionable without breaking ones piggy bank.

I reconnected with Cherry Bomb recently through my fellow yogi and fashionista, Lydia, of Lunar Laundry.  Lydia “upcycles” vintage pieces to make “exciting, foxy garments,” such as this adorable dress:

Today I spent some time taking photos (and maybe picking up some new toasty legwarmers to get me through my first winter back in Indiana…let’s not talk about it)

Cherry Bomb houses both new and vintage clothing, but most excitingly, local Louisville designers!

I’m drooling over this dress from local designer Laura Fauna:

In addition to these fabulous threads, I found some  jewelry by local makers Woodwear by Andrea and Unique Grains by Matthew Little. Unfortunately my camera battery died before catching them…next time!

Go to the Cherry Bomb! Say hey to my fellow yogi-in-training Lydia! Happy shopping and Happy Friday/11-11-11!!
