I think I might have a problem…

I love margaritas, but have a hard time w/ the super duper sweet ones. So, naturally the SkinnyGirl margarita was for me.
However, after buying it a couple times, I quickly realized that it is overpriced, doesn’t have nearly enough tequila in it, and is basically composed of a few simple ingredients I already have around the house.
I know there is a very good chance that I am late to the party on this, but whatevs I’m so excited about it I just felt the need to share. I’ve been indulging in one of these the past few nights — so refreshing!
my perfected skinny girl margarita recipe:
vigorously mix in a tumbler:
ice
a shot of good tequila (I’ve been using Familia Camarena Reposado and El Jimador Reposado)
the juice of 1 lime
some tonic water
healthy squeeze of agave nectar
sprinkle of sea salt.
The reason I say that I might have a problem is that there is virtually no guilt involved in this beverage — cost is low, ingredients are natural, calories minimal…In other words, this means I have noticed that the bottle of tequila is getting lighter and lighter…might need to save for weekends…HA!

Anne Shirley - Anne of Green Gables
(L.M. Montgomery)

I love the entire Anne of Green Gables series of books, but I am also a super fan of the 1985 miniseries, originally broadcast on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
Megan Follows is the best Anne!

Painting Playlist

So I haven’t painted in WAY too long…
I’m starting some new projects today. I want to give my new easel a workout and break in the amazing upstairs studio space we have in this new house.
Like I’ve said before, whenever I am painting, drawing, cutting, decoupaging, etc. there MUST be music blasting. I’ve been getting a playlist ready for today and thought you might enjoy it.
Here’s the Spotify link.
“First Train Home” – Imogen Heap
“In Your Atmosphere” – John Mayer
“The Re-Arranger” – Mates of State
“Youth Knows No Pain” – Lykke Li
“Walking on Broken Glass” – Annie Lennox
“Two” – Ryan Adams
“Lisztomania” (25 Hours A Day remix) – Phoenix
“Just Hold Me” – Maria Mena
“Human Nature” – Michael Jackson
“Tamacun Live in France” – Rodrigo y Gabriela

Happy Friday Y’all! February 17, 2012

I know I say this almost every week, but I am SO GLAD that is if Friday. This week has been crazy!
It is a really busy time at work and there have also been a lot of new and exciting opportunities popping up…more on all that later hopefully…
I know that the Grammys were almost a week ago and in internet land that it is equivalent to about a decade, but I’m still in awe of Adele and her overwhelming awesomeness.
She is simply amazing and her infamous cackle is one of my favorite things right now:
I’m also still in love with her NPR Tiny Desk concert –kinda think this performance of “Someone Like You” is better than the recording!
What’s on your weekend agenda?
For me: busy at work today, yoga TT all day tomorrow, then a free Sunday.

I’m not a fashionista by any means, but I definitely enjoy looking at all the collections after NY Fashion Week.
This year I noticed a lot of prints, which I love! Here are some of my favorite looks that feature bold prints.
3.1 Phillip Lim
Carolina Herrera
DKNY

Michael Kors

You live in the Louisville/Southern IN area & love to Tweet? Let’s MEET!
February 15, 2012 § 1 Comment
so this is totally a locals-only post, but hopefully that’s OK.
If you love Twitter and live in the Kentuckiana area, you gotta come out to Against the Grain on Thursday, February 23 at 6:00pm. It’s going to be so much fun! And enormous props to my brother, @alexporter82 and @tommyspalding for organizing!

I owe a big “you were right” to Alex and my sister-in-law. They were trying to get me on twitter for a long time and I wouldn’t do it. I have really enjoyed it and think it’s just too much fun.

Truvy Jones and Clairee Belcher – Steel Magnolias

I have seen this movie about 150 times and still think it’s probably the best thing ever. I would love to have any of these fabulous ladies in my life, but these two are pretty flawless.
an adorable video

This is the exact reason I’ve been putting off buying new chucks…mine are about 10 years old, but so perfectly broken in!
