right on track…

June 2, 2013 § 6 Comments

Well, it’s June. That means we’re pretty much halfway through 2013…(WHA!?!?!?!?!?!)

Checking in with these resolutions.

Three out of five are done and done. Yay! I’m on track to finish my reading goal of at least 30 books–I’ve read the books pictured above…some great, some truly awful. And I am trying…again, emphasis on trying, to conquer my fear of inversions in yoga. Little by little, it’s coming along…

Happy Friday!

This is impressive…because it’s so fun.

My last day of work before summer vacation today! I thought that yesterday was my last day, but it wasn’t…yeah. Honestly, I’m actually looking forward to working the library all day by myself, listening to NPR and organizing picture books…pretty much my dream job. So thankful for it.

Amazing right?

I’m reading Oliver Jeffers books all week to kids at school and we are all loving it. He’s pretty much perfect. Not only does he do many, many wonderful picture books, but has some truly enchanting iPad versions of his books! Read by the one and only Helena Bonham Carter!?!? The kids go crazy for this. Dying. Check it out:

Ahhh how I covet new stuff from David Sedaris. Since its release on Tuesday, I’ve been listening to the audiobook and loving it as always. There is really no other way to enjoy Sedaris.

He was also on Fresh Air this week and it was a fantastic interview.

This week at work was crazy busy….two words for you: Book Fair. BOOOOOOOOO.

Of course I love that it allows me to have additional funds for my library, I do admit that it is one big pain in the you know what. I tried to brighten each day this week by reading Sleep Like a Tiger by Mary Logue, illustrated by Pamela Zagarenski. I love Zagarenski’s illustrations…they are to die. She also did this book, which is fabulous as well.

too much to do

I want to ask the question: how is it possible to be bored these days?

There is so much I want to do, read, see, make, eat, drink, watch, that at the end of every day I am left wishing I had a few hours.

I love this show and want to finish it, but also have this show and my favorite show ever starting back and I have still never seen The Wire, which let’s face it, I know I’m missing out big time.

I am reading this book, but also have another bookclub selection, and some books for work that I’d like to read…Not to mention the long awaited My Friend series that always just sits around waiting…

Then I get really overwhelmed when I start thinking about all the classes I want to do here…then I would also love to get back into running…then I would also love to cook every recipe on Sprouted Kitchen, Shutterbean, andhere.

Oh and I would also like to this restaurant, go to the Louisville Science Center to see this exhibit

PLUS……I would love to plan/go on a vacation, take more photos, more motorcycle rides, blog posts to write, blogs to read, cocktails to make, yoga workshops to attend, and ETC, ETC, ETC, ETC.

I love how accessible things are these days and how much Louisville has changed since I last lived here. There are too many options and I love it…but it kinda makes my head want to pop off…please tell me I’m not alone?!?!

Oh wait…I guess I also have to work too….

bummer.

Last week at work I read aloud Black Dog by Levi Pinfold. Great little story and wonderful illustrations. Again, I feel so lucky to get paid to read, buy, and discover books like this every day.

Happy Friday Y’all!

It has been a yoga filled week! Taught five classes Monday-Thursday…phew! Love it though. I had a great week and there was lots of exciting news job wise (for Andrew, not me).

Small victories this week:

1) I did not watch the Bachelor (did power DVR it though…fast forwarding through, etc). This is big people…baby steps.

2) a 2 hour delay at school on Wednesday resulted in a some fabulous early morning yoga time…thinking I might make this a habit.

3) I am already three books in to my 2013 goal! Read this book this week…unfortunately I was NOT a fan.

But, can you hear that?!? It’s a three day weekend! Woohoo! I have Monday off for MLK day and couldn’t be happier about it.

at least 30 in 2012…

downloadI’m reporting in one my 2012 resolutions: to read at least thirty books in 2012. I barely made it with thirty exactly! Still working on two, but should be finished before the new year.

While I barely made it, I still didn’t read as much as I’d like and this exact same resolution is going on my list for 2013, but with a little twist.

Having a great morning so far. Drinking coffee with holiday candles & christmas trees. So excited for tonight’s Christmas with my parents, Andrew, and Kaylex (bro and sil). This will include lots of chicken pot pie, cocktails, and presents. However, I did get an early present from Andrew and my Dad yesterday morning:

Pull out shelves for the pantry! I’m ecstatic, they’re perfect!

Happy Holidays all!

a great present

Oh man.

I love my husband very much, but omg I love him even more whenever he gives me presents. Andrew has an amazing, amazing ability to give me the most perfect, thoughtful gifts EVER. ALWAYS. This dates back to when we were dating in high school. He has always given me the best presents. I have received surprise purses, satin pajamas, an autographed first edition of my favorite novel, footie pajamas, my best kitchen tool, an iPad, and who knows what else.

This birthday was no different. When we were in Asheville back in September, we looked at these books together at Malaprop’s and I drooled over them. Of course, they were a little pricey, we left and I forgot about them.

Until…

I opened my present a few days ago and not only did he order me the two basic volumes, but every. single. book. in. the. series. OMG. OMG. OMG. Overwhelmed doesn’t even describe it.

These yoga anatomy books written by Ray Long and illustrated by Chris Macivor are amazing. So beautiful and written in simple language that is easy to understand. They are great.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving–I’m hoping to have a great one full of brisket and birthday, photos to come.

Where Am I?
