life is better with…this Austrian festival!

April 4, 2013 § Leave a Comment

I mean…come on. I somehow have never heard of the Bregenz Festival in Austria until this week. While I’m not much of an opera fan (being forced to sit through La Boheme at the age of six has long-lasting effects…just kidding…big thanks to Mom for taking us…that couldn’t have been easy), I do appreciate it. However, the floating stages featured in this thing every year actually took my breath away. How unbelievable are these?!?!?! I would give just about anything to see one of these in person.

a slight uncertainty…

I would love to see this installation titled, “Slight Uncertainty” from Czech sculptor Michael Trpák. Thank you again Colossal for sharing this! You never fail–always something brilliant to look at over in your corner of the internet.

4 years ago today…

Happy Friday everyone!

Four years ago today, Andrew and I hopped on a one way flight to Europe. We flew to Frankfurt, Germany and spent three weeks driving and traveling throughout Germany, Italy, France, and Amsterdam before heading up to Norway.

It was a wonderful time. Staying in hostels in questionable areas, bunking with old friends from study abroads and drinking beer for 12+ hrs at the last day of Munich’s Oktoberfest,  eating roast chicken in French truck stops…

I miss it sometimes, but life here is better than ever. Here’s hoping there is much more of this spontaneous travel in my future.

What’s on your schedule for the weekend? Not much for other than teaching. I have a week off of work for fall break coming up, headed to Johnson City, Tennessee and (yes, again) Asheville for a few days next weekend.

Photographer Bjoern Ewers has taken the most amazing macro photographs for the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. These are taken inside of musical instruments–unbelievable!

In April 2009, Andrew and I escaped the cold and rain of Stavanger and spent ten days in Greece.

One of my favorite trips ever.

Favorites: Xiaoxi (Nancy) Zhang

I’ll be the first to say that fashion blogs can be a bit repetitive. However, artist, designer, and children’s book illustrator Xiaoxi (Nancy) Zhang takes it to another level indeed.

I’m in love with her illustration/outfit pairing posts:

In other news, I’m off to the casino tonight for my mom’s bday…wish I had one of these outfits to wear!

Museum of Natural History after hours…

I love love love this slideshow on NYTimes’ Photography Blog, Lens. German photographer Klaus Pichler had the fabulous idea of photographing the Museum of Natural History in Vienna after hours.

Pretty cute shark, but after watching American Horror Story I wouldn’t want to be here after dark.

Thanks to Nikole Herriott,  of 46thatgrace, for tweeting this.

Edinburgh Cycle Chic

October 30, 2011 § 2 Comments

I just found the blog Edinburgh Cycle Chic of the original Cycle Chic blog series, which claims to be the “Original Bringin’ Sexy Back since 2006.”

I’m especially fond of this since I used to live in Edinburgh, Scotland not long ago. I also am partial to photos of stylish ladies riding bicycles…too bad I was always too chicken to ride in the city.

I will live vicariously through these ladies:

Where Am I?
