I want to ask the question: how is it possible to be bored these days?
There is so much I want to do, read, see, make, eat, drink, watch, that at the end of every day I am left wishing I had a few hours.
Then I get really overwhelmed when I start thinking about all the classes I want to do here…then I would also love to get back into running…then I would also love to cook every recipe on Sprouted Kitchen, Shutterbean, andhere.
PLUS……I would love to plan/go on a vacation, take more photos, more motorcycle rides, blog posts to write, blogs to read, cocktails to make, yoga workshops to attend, and ETC, ETC, ETC, ETC.
I love how accessible things are these days and how much Louisville has changed since I last lived here. There are too many options and I love it…but it kinda makes my head want to pop off…please tell me I’m not alone?!?!
Oh wait…I guess I also have to work too….

As if Joseph Gordon-Levitt wasn’t perfect enough…then he goes and makes a wonderful little short film via his collaborative website hitREcord…ahhhhh

However, I am happy to announce that I have stopped watching HBO’s GIRLS. I realized that the anger it incites in me is not healthy and all the elements I enjoyed last season have virtually disappeared this season. In short….Enlightened > GIRLS.
Ready for the weekend…like, whoa. It was a tough week at work full of standardized testing…kids stressed, staff stressed.
Family from out of town arriving on Sunday. Can’t wait!

Okay. So those are some podcasts that I truly enjoy almost every day. I learn a lot and I feel mentally stimulated. And then there are these:
I don’t like to say that I “hate-listen” to these shows, but I’m afraid it’s kind of true. Every week I find myself simultaneously annoyed and amused. They almost always incite a rant that begins with something “OMG I can’t believe these people!?!?!?!” So….WHY do I keep listening? I have lots of interest in the topics,, yet I often disagree so strongly with the hosts’ opinions that I find myself wanting to pull my hair out. It’s like being at a dinner party with no ability to interject and voice one’s opinion!
I mean, c’mon…an endorsement of banana pudding: “the ultimate summer dessert concoction of bananas, pudding, Nilla wafers, and whipped cream” or an in-depth analysis of Nicki Minaj’s judging technique on America Idol?!
However, it might not be so bad to listen to the viewpoints that differ from your own…I suppose it’s good for me…
Do you “hate-listen” to podcasts/talk radio?!? Am I the only one?!

Like this poster? Breaking Bad? Anyone? Typically, I have a somewhat irrational hatred for these “Keep Calm and…” posters, but this one made me smile.
My favorite television and movies of 2012. Of course please keep in mind that I have not seen Les Miserables yet (going with whole fam on Christmas Day! So excited!)
Life of Pi
Breaking Bad (AMC)
I seriously have a love-hate relationship with this show. Regardless of things I don’t like about it, it is very well executed and does great things with music.
Mad Men (AMC)
Can you tell that I still think television is far better than movies these days?

Highlights of my week:
Also some great podcast listens this week…which reminded me of the RIDICULOUS mistake I made of leaving this lady off of my list of lady role models:
WHAT IS MY PROBLEM?!?! Dolly is one of my all-time favorite ladies..I love love love love her. Sorry Dolly…
Listen to this:
“After Decades of Dreaming, Dolly says ‘Dream More’”
Talk of the Nation – November 27, 2012
On Point with Tom Ashbrook – November 28, 2012
“Slate Culture Gabfest”
November 28, 2012
“What Changes When Women Lead”

I’m in love with this series of audio clips from NPR featuring filmmakers, actors, actresses, writers, etc talking about those movies they will watch again and again.
Of course, I’ll never pass up the opportunity to offer my two cents. This list is the official “You’ve Got Mail” memorial list:
When Harry Met Sally… Anne of Green Gables
Speed Only You
And NO, of course I could never pick just one. I could barely narrow it down to these!

Happy Tuesday Y’all! I have Wednesday-Friday off, so it’s my Friday. yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
In addition, I have something to say about us ladies.
There was such a strong emphasis on the importance of “women” in this election. I put the word in quotations because I will never understand referring to 51% of the world’s population as a special interest group. And, as a lady who does not find weddings particularly interesting, does not wear makeup, and does not have babies, a lot of target marketing and media is lost on me.
Here’s who I look to:
Joy the Baker
For more sane lady talk, I also recommend:
I’ll be back a bunch this week with some fun stuff – yay for a work break + Thanksgiving + my birthday + wedding anniversary!

Happy Friday! Thank god, again. It’s been a rough week filled with no voice and yet another flare up of the sinus infection that will never die. Booooooo
NPR has got its groove back…except for all the Petraeus related coverage, but hey, I’ll take what I can get!
“Kushner’s ‘Lincoln’ Is Strange, but also Savvy”
Fresh Air — Thursday, November 15, 2012
How am I just now finding out that Tony Kushner wrote the screenplay for Lincoln?! Crazy! Yeah, and I’m still not going.
“A Young Reporter Chronicles her Descent into Madness”
Fresh Air — Wednesday, November 14, 2012
OMG OMG Literally one of the craziest interviews I’ve ever heard. SO fascinating.
DoubleX Gabfest: the PetWell Edition
Slate — Thursday, November 15, 2012
“Heavy Rotation: 5 Songs Public Radio Can’t Stop Playing”
NPR Music – November 16, 2012
So ready for the weekend–hope you have a good one!

How is it already Friday again…HOW?!?! Not that I’m complaining–I’m mostly just giggling in excitement. Potluck with my lovely yoga dears from OYTT tonight–it’s been too long, can’t wait to see you!
oh deeeeeeeear. I know I’m not going to get any relief until after November 6th, but NPR, PLEASE I’M BEGGING YOU! Please cover something without somehow tying it back to the presidential election!?!?! PLEASE?!?!!?
In the past two weeks, I’ve managed to find a little something via podcast, but also have been on a bit of a Spotify binge in protest, here’s what I’ve been listening to…
“What the ‘Influencing Machine’ teaches College Kids”
Talk of the Nation — September 17, 2012
Had to drive straight to the library and check out this book while listening to this discussion.
since when do I listen to Maroon 5? And like it?!?!
I’m going to try and go through the archives and catch up on the rest…will maybe throw out some more selections over the weekend.
